Mount Fox is 63.6 kilometres south-west of Ingham via the Herbert River Valley and the Seaview Range. Travel west from Ingham along Abergowrie Road to Trebonne. From here the route is well signposted. About 20 kilometres from the park in the Mount Fox Forest Reserve, a lookout provides views across the valley.

Just south of Fox Glacier, an inconspicuous DOC sign marks the start of the route along the Fox Range where the initial climb to Mt Fox viewpoint is relentless, gaining 1200m over the course of two kilometres. The terrain is rough and I found myself crawling up wet and muddy sections of trail.

It's about 400 kilometres inland northwest of Townsville near Greenvale (West of Cardwell/Ingham). The northeastern slopes of Boulder Mountain are the origins of the Burdekin River so you're camping near the headwaters of the Burdekin River.

Our Second Day of Backpacking the Teton Crest Trail started early and was long. We traveled over 13 miles by our GPS tracker's data. The journey started at our campsite at Moose Creek (which is where our first day had ended) and took us into the National Park, by Marion Lake, over Fox Pass, Mt. Meek Pass, and into the Alaska Basin before.
